I'm not dead!

I swear!  I swear I didn't die.  I am so so so sorry for neglecting this blog for the past 2 weeks.  Or has it been 3 weeks?  My class literally kicked my you know what.  BUT I PASSED!  So I officially have my Masters degree.  *everyone applauds* thank you, thank you.  Anyways, being in that class sort of sucked all my creative energy out of me.  So I spent some time just relaxing and not doing anything.  I've also been job searching a lot and doing some interviews.  Fingers crossed that I find an amazing job soon!

One thing I did a lot while I was in my class and needed a break is that I watched a lot of movies I've been wanting to see.  Did you know you can rent movies on Amazon now?  It's sort of addicting, especially when I was already on my laptop writing an essay.  I would just mosey on over to Amazon and with a few clicks, bam! I was watching a movie on my laptop.

One of the movies that I particularly enjoyed was "Like Crazy".  It isn't your typical Hollywood romance movie.  I won't ruin the ending, but it definitely wasn't clear.  I actually liked that.  At first I wasn't sure if I liked the movie but I've been thinking about it every now and then ever since I watched it.

Want to know what's even crazier about "Like Crazy"?  Most of the dialogue was improvised by the actors.  It makes the love story a lot more natural and more believable.  It also makes me want to go back to London!

If you're looking for an interesting movie to watch, you can just rent it on Amazon for $3.99.  I definitely recommend this film!

Happy Hunger Games!

The Hunger Games comes out today!  I've been looking forward to this movie ever since I read all three books within the span of a few days.  I could not put them down.  Although the book is a teen novel, I think people of all ages can relate to it.  It really makes you think about reality TV and government propaganda.

In honor of the movie I thought it would be fun to put together a modern-day outfit inspired by Katniss Everdeen.  I'm not going to lie, I'm a big nerd at heart and I've dressed up for my fair share of movie releases back in the day (*cough* Harry Potter *cough*).  However, I thought a more contemporary look would be fun for the Hunger Games, so it's not so obvious.

Are you guys excited for the movie?  Did anyone go to the midnight release last night?  I'm definitely planning on sneaking in some candy and watching it this weekend with my girlfriends. Happy weekend everyone!  And may the odds be ever in your favor.

The Vow & My Vows

A couple of my friends and I saw The Vow last night.  I’ve wanted to see it for a while since I’m a sucker for romance movies.   It was really cute.  It had all the things a romance movie should have: love, heart break, tender sweet moments, corny lines, and a perfect meet cute.  So yes, it was your typical romance movie, and it is probably nothing to write home about, but it’s a good movie to see with your girlfriends and have a good cry.  I always say we all need a little more love in this world…even if it’s Hollywood's fake version of love.

On a side note, what was up with Channing Tatum wearing that awful fedora?  It looks so awkward on him.  I won’t even get started on the obvious wig they had Rachel McAdams wear.

The movie did confirm my desire to write my own vows for our wedding.  I’m a bit terrified to stand up in front of 80+ people saying something so absolutely private and of my heart.  But I just can’t see myself saying the standard vows because I feel that our love isn’t standard.  There are different options though.  You and your fiancĂ© can customize your own vows together and then say the same ones to each other.  Or you can each write your own personal ones, like in the movie.  I kind of like the idea of writing our own vows and then surprising each other with them during the ceremony.    But then again, what if my vows are really long and his are short?  Mine has too much humor in it and his has too much seriousness? Definitely a lot to consider and a lot to discuss with one another!
What do you think?  Do you like personalized vows or do you think the couple should agree beforehand what they’re going to say to each other? I’d love to hear other people's thoughts on this subject.
P.S. I think "Brand New Colony" by the Postal Service would make excellent vows. Would it be corny if Matt brought up his guitar and sang this song to me?  Yes?  Darn.  :-)
